Kindergarten

In kindergarten you would meet a kid and seconds later you would be best friends- (High School Musical). Why when we grow up does it get harder to make new friends? As we get older we learn the meaning of trust, we also learn the heartache of a lie. We teach ourselves to build walls so we won't get hurt. As these walls continue to grow and reinforce themselves, it gets harder to let anyone in. There are judgments that don't enter your mind when you're little, there are concerns that have to be taken into account. We have troubles making new friends because of the barriers and expectations we put up for the people we meet. If we can learn to pull down these walls, brick by brick, we can learn the meaning of friendship. We let the past interfere with the future, too afraid to see the good in something new. It sounds cheesy, but to let new people; new friends into our lives, all we have to do is open up.
