The Scarlet Let...ZZZzzz

Everyone has been talking about how much they hate The Scarlet Letter. "It's boring."" I don't understand it."" Why do we have to read this stupid book." With the label assignment we received I started to think about why kids would say things like that about this book. Personally I like The Scarlet Letter. With admitting I like the book, the labels goody-two-shoes, suck-up, and brown-noser come to mind. I don't like the book because Mr. Rich likes the book and I need a good grade. I'm interested in the book and it makes me think about things I don't generally think about. I don't really say much about liking the book because, like any normal teenager, I don't want to be labeled. I began to ask myself if people were labeling the book for fear of being labeled themselves. It's ridiculous how often we label. We do it on accident and without even thinking about it. Why should we let labels take control of our thoughts and actions? I guess it's human nature and it's not going to change any time soon, but I, for one, am going to be very cautious of what I say concerning labels.
